The Minister of Inner-city and Zongo Development, Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, has revealed plans to assist Zongo women who are into 'waakye' and 'sobolo' businesses. This, he said, is geared towards empowering them to become economically productive and to improve their living standards
According to him, this will enable them redirect their skills into productive ventures to improve household incomes of such communities.
The ministry has initiated a number of socio-economic programmes that are aimed at developing the human capacities of the people in Zongo communities, empower them to be economically productive and support the promotion of their indigenous businesses in order to improve household incomes,” he said.

The announcement was made by his successor, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who said on Saturday that the former leader has been receiving treatment in Singapore for the past two months.
"He is now old. Of course, he now is unable to walk but whatever he asks for we will provide," Mnangagwa told hundreds of supporters in Mugabe's home area of Zvimba, about 100km west of the capital, Harare. "We are looking after him," added Mnangagwa, calling Mugabe the "founding father of free Zimbabwe".
The president did not give further details about the condition of Mugabe, who ruled Zimbabwe for nearly four decades since independence from Britain in 1980,
